Frequently Asked Questions

  • My spa’s showing an error code. What does err6 mean?

Error code err6 could be a number of things and it depends on the brand of your spa as to which one’s most likely. It could mean there’s a heater fault, it could mean there‘s no circulation from the pump, or it could be a faulty controller. Contact us for an on-site assessment.

  • What are the alternatives to chlorine for keeping my spa clean?

We use simple silver and add a little bit of chlorine. This results in a clean spa that doesn’t smell as strongly. People ask us about bromine and that does last longer in hot water but it has a stronger smell and can leave a very light film on the skin.

  • What does it cost to run a spa?

You should budget for $1/day in power costs, and chemicals on top of that. If you’re local to Papamoa, swing by the shop in Reynolds Place. We’ve got all the chemicals you need.

  • Should I empty my spa when I’m not using it?

It’s best to leave water in it and turn it on every 4 weeks for 24 hours to let the water filter through the system. This stops the water going stagnant and it also stops the seals drying out. If the seals dry out they’ll perish and you’ll be up for repair costs.

  • My spa is leaking. How can I find where the leak’s coming from?

It’s a great idea to find the leak yourself as this will save you money! Step one is to take the side panels off, then simply run the spa and lie on the ground and watch. The three most common leaks are the mechanical seals, the O rings, and the jet seals. If it’s the O rings you may be able to repair it yourself – call us for more info.

  • Can you remove our old spa?

Yes, and if it’s a model we can make use of we can do it for free! Contact us for details

  • Do you sell spa lids?

We sure do. Head to the Spa Shop page to see the options.

  • How will I know if my spa needs attention?

The most common sign is green water or an unpleasant smell which means it either needs refilling, or a good dose of chlorine.

The other noticeable issues are obviously leaks, or the pump making unusual noises. Of course if there’s an error code, don’t ignore it – call us for support.

  • How do I tell if a secondhand spa is any good?

Secondhand spas can be awesome, but they can also be a whole lot of trouble. One good check you can do yourself is to take one side off the spa and inspect the frame. If there's wet wood in there, that's bad news. Another sign of possible trouble is if the touchpad is not working. We're always happy to check a spa out for you and our Spa WOF is the perfect solution.

For true peace of mind we recommend you buy from a reputable dealer and get the benefit of experience. We regularly have refurbished spas for sale. Check out our Spa Shop.

  • What does it cost for a callout?

We charge $138 callout fee which includes travel and assessment. View our services.
